Do you get frustrated at times trying to create cards using any of your stamp collections? Wondering what to stamp or add to the front? There are days for me that my mojo just flies out the window, or my mind goes completely blank. Let's check out some of my solutions.
This week I have been showcasing the Playful Pets Collection. The collections at Stampin' Up! make it pretty easy to create cards All the products are color coordinated within the collection. Meaning that the designer paper, trinkets or embellishments and the ribbon all match. To make it even easier for you, on the back of the pack of designer series paper, there is a list of all the coordinating card stock colors that they recommend for the pack. How cool is that! And note the colors on the back of the pack are just suggestions, the colors are always your choice! The next best thing is that you can also buy the products in the collection seperately.
So know that we know what a collection consists of when buying products at Stampin' Up! and you have that collection sitting in front of you, it is time to create a card. For me, I love layers. So in order to create a simple card I want to stay away from lots of stamping for these cards. So lets start creating.
- choose your base layer. My choice for these cards is Early Espresso and Soft Suede with a bit of Cinnamon Cider thrown in
- decide which designer series paper you want to use. As you can see for both of my cards today I used the paper with the food bowls on them.
- Pick out some really nice coordinating dies. It is a quick and easy way to add layers and some interest to the front of the card. I used the Stitched So Sweetly die set.
- Texture is always nice, that too add some interest to the front of the card. I used the Subtles 3D embossing folder.
- A bit of ribbon and a sentiment, they are always an excellent choice
- Last but not least an image. For this Simple card I decided not to stamp an image, but fussy cut a dog and a cat from another piece of the designer series paper. Sometimes we get lucky and there are papers that have some really nice images that you can use.
- Use Stampin' Seal for some of your layers and most definitely use dimensionals to pop up some of those layers.
All the products that were used to create these cards are listed below. All you have to do is click on the picture and it will take you directly to my Stampin' Up! store.
