Stamping and Card Creating is Easy as 1, 2, 3

Did you see my post the other day "New to Paper Crafting?"

If not click the link....if you did lets follow up with that post with a card that is simple and easy to create but adorable just the same.

We want to decide our colors, designer paper and the stamp that you would like to use to create your card.

Once this is all decided we have to cut our layers to the size card you would like to create.  For this card I am creating a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4" card....and I want the card to be 5 1/2" tall.....so the base of my card will be 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and we will score the 8 1/2" side at 4 1/4.....
Cutting your 8 1/2 x 11" piece of card stock like this will allow you to create 2 card bases.

Now lets create those layers.....I am going to put the link here to another previous post on card layers...click here for reference cards..will you use 1/8" difference or a 1/4"?  Ask yourself....how much of the bottom layer would I like to see....

As you can see I used a Mossy Meadow Card Stock base....Pear Pizzazz as my 1st layer and I did not want to see too much of the previous layer so I am using 1/8" difference in each layer.

For my 2nd layer I used the County Club Designer Series Paper....divided the card face with a strip of very thing mossy meadow and added a few pearls....

Using the layering Circle Dies I created the focal point of the card. creating a scallop circle to bring a bit more attention to the stamp I used and the scene from the DSP.  You can find the Stamp Set in the Annual Catalog.....I think it is an adorable set called "On to Adventure"

Quick and easy card front for that birthday you forgot all about.

When it comes to the inside of my cards....I like to add layers there too....inside I adhered a Mossy Meadow layer......stamped and added a strip of the front DSP to Whisper White and adhered it to the mossy meadow layer....

Can you feel the love that went into creating this card?

It's a passion!

New to Paper Crafting?....Start here!

When it comes to paper crafting, we all were new once and had to start somewhere.  But the question is where?

I don't know about you, but when I open a catalog or go to a crafting supply website it gets a bit overwhelming.  So, let's grab a cup a coffee and talk for a spell while I give you a few things that every paper crafter should start with.

  1. If you want to create cards that are of a higher quality, I would definitely start with a good foundation of card stock.  Sure there is card stock out there in varying prices but I would suggest picking a card stock that when folding does not tear or split at the crease.
  2. Get a quality set of stamp pads.  You definitely need basic black or gray and if you are going to color in the image with an alcohol based marker, you want to use Memento Stamp Pads.  And than depending of what sort of images you are drawn to when you are stamping you will need other colors to bring life to your stamping.
  3. A good set of scissors and/or paper trimmer......you really do not want ragged edges when cutting.  When you do have those paper snips or trimmer dedicate them to your craft room.  And yes it will be a bit overwhelming when you take a look at all the paper trimmers out there but when you are starting out this paper trimmer is light, easy to use and affordable.  It also doubles as a score board!  Two tools for the price of one.....
  4. Adhesives.....you want to be able to adhere those images you have stamped and layers to that card so a good tape runner is the place to start.  Having something that is Simple, Neat and In -line (snail) is quick, easy and did I mention fun to use!  I also have liquid glue, glue dots and tear & tape for those 3 D projects and for adding embellishments and ribbon.
  5. If you don't want everything to lay flat on the front of your card and want to pop up flowers or embellishments dimensionals are the way to go.  I am a bit partial to SU's dimensionals because they are just the right height so they do not get stuck in the postage machine at the PO ruining a creation you spent so much time creating.
  6. Something else that you should have is protection for your craft table.  We could actually use scrap copy paper or take the risk of getting ink on our table without protection but using grid paper protects and can be used to measure and be more precise when trying to add layers.  It is there right in front of you at all times to jot down notes, measure that piece of ribbon quicker and most of all protect that table top.
Phew....not that bad.  A few essentials and in-expensive items to get you on your way to becoming a paper crafter.

If you are missing any of these things or would like to try something new click the links below.

Thank you for sticking with me till the end.  If you would like to add to your arsenal of paper crafting sign up for my newsletter and get a FREE PDF right to your email inbox every week.....fill out the pop up of just fill out the form on the right of this blog.

Happy crafting my friends!

Happy New Year!
It is so nice to be back in full swing creating and doing what I love.  The holidays passed by without lighting my tree this year because the flu hit our house this year.  Here is hoping that you are all well and had a wonderful New Year.
When I first saw this set, I wasn't sure my feelings for it to be honest.  My first thoughts of course were for our Veterans, God bless them all.  My second thought was of the Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy and friends ran thru the poppy field.  But after pulling the dies and stamps, even the paper out I fell in love with the bold colors, delicate dies and beautifully crafted stamps.
For today's first project, I have created a Birthday card because February is a big month of birthdays for us.

The inside as you can see is framed like a picture making this a shadow box type of card.

Next I created a pocket card, mostly because it can serve as a gift card holder or a tag for a wrapped present.

Ad lastly, what better way to start the year but with a calendar.

If you would like to receive all three of these make & takes for free,  please place a minimum order  $25.00 order by Midnight Tuesday Jan. 7th, 2020 and I will happily send them to you.

I have prepared a FREE PDF complete with dimensions and products below.

Thank you for choosing me as your Stampin' Up! Demonstrator!
